The CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner certification is now included in the U.S. Department of Defense 8570.01-M program for information assurance personnel.
The program provides guidance and procedures for the training, certification and management of Department of Defense workers conducting information assurance functions in assigned duty positions.
How CompTIA Certifications Fit into DoD 8570.1M
The CASP gives individuals the necessary qualifications for higher-level positions, meeting the requirements for jobs in Information Assurance Technical Level III, IS Manager Level II and IA Systems Architect and Engineer Levels I and II.
CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ and CompTIA Security+ certifications were previously approved for Technical Level I and Technical Level II job roles.
The CASP is the next step after CompTIA Security+ certification, and certifies advanced knowledge in enterprise security, risk management, and research and analysis. Certified individuals have the critical thinking skills and judgment to conceptualize, design and engineer secure solutions across enterprise environments.
The certification is intended for IT security professionals with a minimum of 10 years of experience in IT administration and at least five year of hands-on security experience in an enterprise environment.
