Getting IT-certified can make your way into IT a lot easier. Not only will you get up to speed on current technologies and fill knowledge gaps, you’ll also be able to show you have the skills and confidence you need to thrive in your job. We’ll show you how to get certified in four steps.
1. Explore careers and certifications
Use our Certifications Roadmap to discover IT career paths available and which IT certifications will prepare you for those careers.
Whether you’re considering a career in IT or you already have IT job experience, you’ll find certifications that can expand your knowledge. When you’ve identified areas you’re interested in, head over to our certification pages and learn more about the certifications that help you on your career path.
2. Train
To prepare for your certification exam, you can choose and combine training options that fit your schedule and work for you.
- CertMaster: Use CompTIA’s online study companion on your desktop or notebook computer, as well as on your mobile device.
- Self-study tools: Find books, e-books and e-learning tools to study for your exam.
- Instructor-Led training: If you prefer in-person learning, search for professional learning centers to participate in a classroom setting. Many community colleges and universities also provide training classes for CompTIA certifications.

3. Get certified
When you’re ready to take your CompTIA certification exam, simply schedule your test at one of 6,000 Pearson VUE Testing Centers.
