Earn and Learn During CompTIA’s Virtual IT Pro Day

by Michelle Lange | Nov 15, 2016

IT Pro Day (002)Infrastructure, development, security and data are at the center of IT Pro Day, CompTIA’s free, live-streamed training session scheduled for Wednesday, December 7. Certification holders who sit in on any of the day’s main sessions can earn continuing education units (CEUs) for attending the live webinars.

Throughout the day you’ll learn how to study hacker behavior to prevent attacks, how to explain security information to non-technical folks, and how front-line workers manage today’s business services. You’ll also get a primer on the IT Infrastructure Library and understand its value, and debate security, access and cost related to cloud and on-site work.

IT Pro Day is about offering practical, hands-on sessions that will help you hone your IT skills,” said Dr. James Stanger, senior director of products at CompTIA. “The IT landscape has gotten increasingly complex, so we’re breaking it all down and discussing vital skills that today’s professional’s need.”

The main sessions will be supplemented with insider interviews on virtual reality, soft skills and cybersecurity, led by Miles Jobgen, CompTIA’s director of education.

Learn about CertMaster’s leap into virtual reality training, get a behind-the-scenes look at the exam building process, and see how new training programs are taking a contemporary look at soft skills and security certification.

“We’ll also be doing a fun gameshow with two of our own IT guys where we’ll pull questions from sample exams for a play-at-home version,” Jobgen said.

The program will be hosted by Seth Robinson, CompTIA’s senior director of technology analysis, who will share market research insights to complement the technical sessions.

“We’ll talk about new jobs, where they are really landing and the skills people need to do them,” Robinson said. “We’re trying to do two things: emphasize what CompTIA is doing within the industry and feature people within the IT pro community who we’re trying to help.”

IT Pro Day starts at 10:20 a.m. with a keynote from CompTIA President and CEO Todd Thibodeaux. The day will wrap by 3:45 p.m. with closing remarks from Robinson. Register here, or visit the IT Pro Day website for more. Times listed are U.S. Central time.
