Introduction to Cyber Ready Scotland
Cyber Ready Scotland is a 6-month professional upskilling programme designed to develop those who are currently employed, and their organisation is seeking to upskill them with cybersecurity skills
The flipped-classroom approach combines classroom and online teaching methods and is designed to encourage applications from candidates who may have other commitment and time limitations.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must be currently in employment that are residents of Scotland and could be:
- Working in a first/second line IT roles and looking to enhance your cybersecurity skills
- Former IT Apprentices who are looking to specialise in cybersecurity
- New Security Operations Centre (SOC) employees
- Digital Technology Specialists within the FinTech sector
Why should I pursue a career in Cyber?
Cyber Security is a hot topic and getting hotter! With 46% of UK businesses identifying cyber security breaches over the last 12 months there is a real need for organisations to prepare themselves. A recent survey of the UK’s biggest 350 companies said more than two thirds of boards had not received training to deal with a cyber incident, despite more than half saying cyber threats were a top risk to their business. Statistics like this means that employers are actively seeking recently training Cyber Security talent.
Cyber related salaries range from £20,000 to £80,000 depending on experience according to ITJobswatch.co.uk.
What to Expect?
15 candidates will be selected by a panel of assessors to join the Cyber Ready programme. Each candidate will receive:
- A Cyber Security Expert to mentor the cohort
- 12-month access to industry standard learning content
- CompTIA Security+ and CySA+ Qualifications once the exam is completed
The programme itself is divided into 4 simple stages Application and Screening, Training and Education, Face to Face Cyber Wargames and Ongoing Development. On the most part it is delivered online, with the exception of a weekend workshop. This will take place in either Edinburgh or Glasgow (exact location to be confirmed)
